Immature Stages of Sapygidae

Detailed information on immature stages of Sapygidae is being acquired. However, Clausen (1940) noted that in this family with relatively few genera and species, the young larva of Polochrum repandum Spin., is found on the food mass in the cell with the egg of its host, Xylocopa violacea L. The latter may be destroyed before extended feeding takes place on the stored food.
